About this site
This Joomla 5 site has been set up by Charlie Bigley as a demonstratration of a simple Joomla site that provides a presence on the web but requires very little maintainance.
As at 22 Sept 2025, it has been configured with the "Home group" set to LE04 Coalvile Ramblers, and the "Neighbouring groups" have been defined here.
These parameters are specified just once, but are used in all the various versions of the walking programmes; making a change just once will therefore automatically ripple through to each and every one of the programmes.
The details of the committee members will need to be updated if there are any changes, but this can readily be done by updating the list of "Contacts" from the Administrative website.
The process of setting up your own website is very simple, and typically will only take half an hour - see the instructions here.
Should you wish, there are many more functions that can be added using a simple menu-driven process. See https://demo.stokeandnewcastleramblers.org.uk/index.php for a fully functional site that has been set up to demonstrate all the extra functions that are available using the additional bespoke components. There is, of course, ample scope to add more menus and other content, and documentation is available at https://docs.stokeandnewcastleramblers.org.uk/.
The same principles can be used to set up a site suitable for an Area website - see area.staffordshireramblers.org/.org.uk
